In Illinois, a child has a right to attend school tuition free in the district where his or her parent(s) reside. The child can attend school in another district if the child lives in that district for a reason other than attending school.
If you have received notice from your school district that your child may not attend school there, feel free to contact me to discuss your options. Often, the school district allows you a hearing. I strongly recommend that you retain legal counsel for this hearing since unrepresented parents can find themselves walking into a trap.
